AoF annual Meet-Up
10 Years of Association of Foragers
Association of Foragers annual meet up is a highlight for many members. This year it was even more special as we celebrated our 10th anniversary. A decade of muddy boots, shared knowledge, endless conversations about plants and plates full of the best of wild food.
January may be the quietest month in the hedgerow, but inside the gathering, the energy was anything but dormant.
Outside, the world seemed to be taking a break. Inside, the energy was big with lots of different topics discussed - about ethics, ecology, fungi finds, and the future of foraging in Britain.
Our venue was amazing and it felt like a special treat for the celebration. We gathered at Colehayes Park in Dartmoor, near Hay Tor, South Devon. The place is situated between rolling hills and beautiful woodland, a perfect landscape for a gathering of this type.
10th anniversary - marking ten years of setting standards, raising awareness, and shaping the future of foraging in the UK.
Founded in 2015, the Association of Foragers reached a remarkable milestone this January - ten years of working together on standards, ethics and teaching about nature within the UK and European foraging world.
This year’s annual meet-up wasn’t just a gathering; it was a birthday celebration. We raised a toast with some of the original founders, reflecting on how far the association has come - from a small group of friends to respected, passionate professionals working to shape the future of wild food education.
On Saturday afternoon, we gathered to celebrate something special. We raised a glass of wild bubbles and had a slice of truly stunning woodland cake. The atmosphere was one of a kind, we all agree that it feels so good to spend time together. After the cake we even managed to get all of the members to take a group photograph, captured by a professional photographer to mark the occasion. Believe me, getting all the people in the same place at the same time is always one of the biggest challenges during the meet ups, but we succeeded this time.
Happy 10th birthday to the AOF - and to every member who has helped it grow.
